The FMNII Team has returned to Portland for the second US series of Footwear Technical Seminar. Portland being the athletic footwear center where many leading footwear brands are headquartered, is unquestionably the right location to supply innovation and new knowledge to the industry.
This year, 50 attendees from 12 footwear brands have attended the event, including adidas, Ariat, Brooks, Columbia, Lululemon, Nike, Reebok and Vibram. There were also attendees from the famous footwear design institute Pensole Academy.
This year, we have invited experts from different suppliers to share their industry insights. China’s leading textile supplier Boyi first gave an overview of the use and type of Textiles, before diving in to the textile innovation they have developed over the last year, such as NeoPrintex direct digital printing solution. The seminar continues with Sustainable Mold Prevention, which show case water-based mold prevention solution that can applied to industry products. This solution is effective and harmless to both human and the environment. The attendees at the seminar all agreed sustainable products should be more widely used in the industry. CiXing returns to Portland with an updated seminar on the advancement of Knitting Technology. This computerized flat technology is still on the trend in the athletic footwear world. In fact, the applications of the technology have been extended to medical, transportation and more. The 2018 seminar finished with a budding topic in the industry- Gait Analysis. Gait is the movement of a person’s walk, which has a significant influence on the human body. By incorporating data gathered from gait analysis, designers and product developers are able to design better and more comfortable products for consumers, taking account the health of consumers.
